The group is run by a committee of representatives from 10 Colchester businesses, from a variety of sectors. They work together, meeting once a month, to raise money directly for the Colchester branch of the NSPCC.
Their most successful event has been the annual Emerald Ball, one of Colchester’s biggest fundraising events, which started in 2008, aiming to raise £5,000. It was a huge success, attracting more than 120 guests, entertaining them with casino tables, stilt walkers and an auction, as well as dinner and dancing, and beating its fundraising target.
The event is back on 13 November 2010, when it will take place in the Moot Hall in the centre of town, with the aim of raising £10,000 for the NSPCC. With 250 people attending, and catering by the renowned Lemon Tree restaurant, it promises to be a very special night.
